What’s up fight fans!!
The fight of the year is right around the corner and let me tell you I cannot wait for this fight on April 22nd this Saturday.
This is a rare occurrence in boxing, two fighters fighting in their primes both putting their undefeated record on the line. Boxers always express their desires to fight the best but for one reason or another it always seems to slip away from the fight fans. I mean look at Errol Spence vs. Terrance Crawford clash at Welterweight that was supposed to happen this year but it ended up falling through, not surprised. Something always gets in the way whether its promotions arguing or fighters cant seem to just agree on terms. The interesting thing about this fight coming up on Saturday is the sacrifices Ryan Garcia is taking to fight Tank Davis. Now it is apparent that Davis is the face of boxing and is obviously risking a lot just stepping into the ring with a young and hungry star like Garcia. However, that does not mean he is not gonna take every advantage he can in this fight to strengthen his odds of victory. Ryan Garcia is significantly bigger than Tank and he is in my opinion a natural super lightweight who usually fights at a 140 pounds. Now though at 24 Garcia is still filling out and with his 5 feet 11 inch stature he should honestly be moving up to 147 pounds at welterweight. Where as Tank is a true 135 pound lightweight fighter and is honestly undersized at 5’5 in height. This fight is taking place at a catchweight of 136 pounds which gives a huge edge to Tank but that’s not all there is also a REHDRATION CLAUSE. Usually after fighters make weight the day before the fight then can rehydrate to whatever weight they like but this fight is different. After the fighters make weight at 136 pounds they will only be allowed to rehydrate up to 10 pounds meaning they will have to come into the fight at a 146 pounds or less. This is a huge advantage for Tank this means that King Ryan won’t be able to bulk up and have a massive size and strength advantage over Tank. Most fighters would never agree to this but by Garcia agreeing to these terms we truly get to see how dedicated he is to making this fight happen.
Now lets get into the good stuff the Tale of the Tape and more importantly who I think has the edge coming into this fight.

Now right away you can see that Ryan Garcia has a huge height and reach advantage on Davis. He is going to have to utilize this edge if he wants to have a chance of winning this fight. Tank is no stranger to fighting taller fighters and he has smartest ring IQs in all of boxing. Tank has a lot of experience and has faced stronger opposition than Garcia. He is a master of cutting the distance and slipping in uppercuts and hooks to the body. I believe this fight will be a high level boxing match. Here is what I think are both guys keys to victory.
Ryan Garcia
- He has to land big to gain Davis’ respect
- Utilize his reach with his jab to control the distance
- Do not fall for traps
- Fight tall and also stay in the middle of the ring
Gervonta Davis
- Close the distance
- Land the the left hand
- Wear Garcia down take him into deep water
- Avoid the left hook
Final Thoughts: I have to give the edge to Tank in this fight I just think he is in a league of his own. For Ryan to win this fight I think he would have to win on points Tank has never been knocked down as a pro. That means Garcia is gonna have to be perfect all night long. That is hard to do when your facing a guy like Tank with SHOW STOPPING power. I see Tank figuring him out and finally finding that shot to take the young Ryan Garcia out. In Ryan’s last fight Luke Campbell put him down and he is not that big of a puncher. Tank is a way bigger puncher than Campbell. So I just see Tank being too much for Ryan Garcia.
Yall should all tune in for the fight this Friday! Thanks for joining us at FightHub and reach out and let us know who you got in this fight!
